School district and university collaboration is a promising area of educational and economic innovation. Current developments in Surrey are a case in point. The City of Surrey projects a doubling of its population to a half a million people by 2011. In response to population growth and urban development in Surrey there is an educational experiment taking place that includes university and graduate studies.
