About:Youna went to the USLC meeting today (March 21) as WICS representative.
Youna report the following WICS issue during USLC meeting:
Issue1: WICS is trying to connect people form surrey campus for our events
Issue2: WICS needs more women power for its event
Issue3: We need funding for WICS scholarship (If approved by FAS department)
    Feedback for USLC meeting:
-They suggest us that when we send our package for potential TryCatch sponsor, we should ask for WICS sponsor as well.
(For example, WICS should have option in the package that the sponsor can choose to donate to TryCatch or WICS, or both TryCatch and WICS.)
-WICS can create a new position as WICS Sponshorhsip Coordinator to help WICS to find more funding.
-The Dean said he could help us to find some people who might be interested in sponsoring WICS.

    2.Mentor Lunch
About: Mentor Lunch participants haven’t send Sara their feedback for the event.
We will collect all the feedbacks and post them on WICS website.

    3.International Women’s Day
    Feedback from Youna, and Queena:
Overall, the event was good. 53 people attended the event including 12 male, 37 WICS members and 4 WEG+Engineering Science.
Most people enjoyed our foods, and games.
They also found our guest talk, and wics-exec presentations interesting. We specially got very good feedback on exec’s informative 2 minute talks on the CS events for women.
The event let us make connections with WEG and we had an exec meeting with WEG a week after the event.
Contents of presentation slides (1/2 of world’s work done by women) have cause talks and sharing ideas among attending people.
However, not too many people participated in writing about the “100 years, 100 achievements” theme on the poster we prepared.
The game was also a little bit unorganized.
We will consider having music in our next year event.

    4. Networking Event
    Date: March 28th, 2011
Time: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
    Budget: 100 dollars
Problem: The Highland Pub is not available on March 28. So we have to change the location to TASC 9204.
    Event preparation:

(1). We will order veggie platters.
(2). We will also buy some French Fries from Highland Pub
(2). The rest of the money will spend on Sandwich and drinks. We could order Sandwich from Nester.
(3).  It is estimated that around 20 to 25 people will come to the event.
(4). Queena will book the room from 6:00pm to 8:00pm for the event.

    5.GoSC Workshop
Sara is not here today. We will ask her to send us the feedback through email.

    6.Other things:
    A. Some WICS executives don’t come to our meeting
We felt not too many WICS executives are attending the meeting this semester. Only 3 out of 7 WICS executives showed up today. And it is huge problem for us, because we need over 1/2 approvals from WICS executives on WICS budget spending. In other words, we can not decide the budget for event if less than 4 WICS executive show up. We are considering a new rule to make it mandatory for WICS executive to be present in the meeting into our WICS constitution.

    B.CSSS Formal
Ticket can be purchased in CS common room.
