1. Froshweek WICS Luncheon Feedback:
Date: Wednesday, September 7, 2011 Time: 11:30am-12:30pm
Budget: $200, Actual Spending: $128.43 (after tax)
- 1 Deluxe Sandwich Tray 18″, 1 Appetizer Tray 16″ (2x$49.99), Fresh Fruit Tray 16″ ($11.98), Kitchen Tong ($3.99)
- Nester’s gave us 24 free pop cans and some cookies
Feedback:
- food was great, people enjoyed the fruit and veggies
- 24 attendees (only 3 froshies)
- apparently the first years did not get an email about WICS, so we need to make sure in the future that WICS/CSSS sends an email to the first year email list, and get the CSSS to promote the event better!
2. Burnaby Clubs Day
Date: Thursday, September 15, 2011 Time: 10:30am-3:30pm
Feedback:
- lacking volunteers! Next time: send the email asking for volunteers at least a week in advance
- photos of the booth are up on facebook 
2.5 Surrey Clubs Day
Date: Wednesday, September 21, 2011 Time: 10:30am-3:30pm
Plans:
- we currently have no volunteers! If you want to volunteer, please email Queena so you can get the WICS board decorations/event photos
- next time, send email days in advance
3. GHC Info Session Feedback:
Budget: $60
Actual Spending: ~$45 (Nester’s gave us 10% off the order, and gave us extra veggie sandwiches)
- 12 attendees
- most found it very useful; they learned a lot about SFU scholarships and are planning to apply for them
- it was great to have people who’ve already been to GHC (i.e. Queena, Maryam) to share their experiences and describe the conference
- if you have questions or want some info about GHC if you missed the info session, ask Zahra
4. Ada Lovelace Day at SFU Surrey
Date: October 7, 2011
- Sue, from Student Affairs wondering if WICS wants to organize something for Ada Lovelace Day at SFU Surrey
- Queena to email Sue if they could plan something, and WICS would send a few volunteers to give a short presentation about WICS (maybe a blurble of Ada Lovelace’s background)
5. Mentor Lunch
Date: mid-October, 2011 (depends on professor)
Possible Location: Himalayan Peak at SFU Cornerstone
Volunteer: Maryam Hamidirad (email students and gets free lunch)
Previous mentors: Eugenia Ternovska, Lyn Bartam, Sasha Fedorva, Tamara Smyth, Stella Atkins, Funda, Veronica

6.Technical Workshop
Proposed Date: October 27, 2011
Time: 2-3hours, maybe from 1:00-3:00pm
Subject: Mobile operating systems (android, etc.)
Presenter: Evgeny
Volunteers: Jasleen and Maryam
Plans:
- Evgeny: free any Thursday from 9:00am-3:00pm
- CSIL cannot install android app implementation program on computers
- Evgeny will be talking about the market and what kinds of apps people develop
- Queena to confirm with Evgeny about 1-3pm proposed time
7. WWEST Partners Funding
- Queena and Eleanor (WEG) will be going to a WWEST Partners Meeting this Friday, September 23
- WWEST will give feedback about presentation, and Queena/Eleanor will give revised presentation on October 15, 2011
- WWEST will make funding decision by November 15, 2011
8. Joint Networking Event with WEG
Proposed Date: January/February, 2012
- Lesley (ENSC prof) proposed beginning of 2012, as people will be less busy
Proposed Time: ~2-3 hours after 6pm
Location: Irmacs Theatre (WEG will book)
Plan:
- invite 4 speakers from engineering/compsci to talk
- 6 other speakers will also be there for Mix and Mingling
Proposed Regular Meeting Time: every other Tuesday, 5:00-6:00pm
- Amy, Shannon, and Zahra have to leave around 5:45pm Tuesdays
